Future Scenarios: Planning for the unknown – Part 1

    Led by Mario Izcovich

Creative and challenging, this intensive workshop is designed to help prepare for the challenges facing your community or organization using the Future Scenarios management method. Future Scenarios is a strategic planning method used to make flexible long-term plans. Scenarios are meant to shift thinking beyond the conventional to provoke new ways of thinking about issues. This method also allows the inclusion of factors that are difficult to formalize, such as novel insights about the future, deep shifts in values, unprecedented regulations or inventions.

The 2 Part workshop will enable the participants to imagine alternative futures for Jewish life in Europe, to explore the challenges faced in this new century. The main objective of this session is to imagine alternative futures for community life in Europe via scenario
    planning.

The value of future scenarios offers the opportunity to provide a platform for reflection and discussion on issues that we are collectively wrestling with and currently facing. The availability of plausible, alternative future worlds allows us to enhance our understanding of
complex systems, to challenge our own and each other’s thinking, and to better navigate the space for action defined by choice, uncertainty and constraints, whilst remaining open-minded to new and better possibilities. Engagement using scenarios unearths our hidden assumptions and ultimately broadens our minds and enriches our policies and actions. The true value of scenarios lies not in building the storylines, but in our courage and capability to use scenarios to explore ‘what if’ and avoid ‘if only’ by acting on our new-found insights.

Board game: Enough of Hierarchy – Politics in Community Business

    Led by Barbara Burian

In this workshop, we will delve into dismantling traditional hierarchies and explore the dynamics of politics in community, business, and
organizational settings. We will discuss power structures, decision-making processes, and strategies for fostering inclusivity and collaboration. Get ready to challenge conventional norms and build a deeper understanding of navigating relationships within diverse
    environments.

During this session, the audience will be divided into small groups, and each group will get a different board game with cubes! This traditional game will require an unorthodox mindset!

Each step will bring up a question / role play where you face hard-core hierarchy issues like territorialism: “speaking with the wrong person or in the wrong order”  and the participants will have to come up with constructive solutions (reframe sentences, analyze your org’s or boss’ priorities etc).
